Roast Beef, Furniture, Imax - Mardi Gras?

January 6th, 2006

Who would have thought that these would be such a wonderful combination? Shop for some furniture, watch a movie and the mardi gras - party…

Then I hear my stomach grumbling for some yummy food - beef … like roast beef. Well at the Natick Jordan’s, they made it so easy. I would just walk to the Kellys located within the store.

Eat till I am stuffed and my wallet much lighter after spending some serious money on the best furniture store in MA. Who really cares about the new foreign store in the South Shore anyway ;) ???

Roast Beef? Wikipedia - :(

So I guess the French invented the term yikes. At least, it was the English who got it going. Found this out from wikipedia which is an awesome resource.

Roast beef
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roast beef
Sunday roast consisting of roast beef, roast potatoes, vegetables and yorkshire puddingRoast beef (also known as a roast) is a cut of beef which is roasted in an oven. Roast beef is often served within sandwiches and sometimes is used to make hash. In England roast beef is one of the meats traditionally served at Sunday Dinner.

In Culture
In Europe, the English are particularly associated with beef-eating, which is why the French call them les rosbifs (roast beefs).

In fact, according to research carried out by the Museum of London amongst Roman rubbish dumps in London, it seems that Britons acquired their first taste of roast beef from the Roman military as the city expanded under their occupation. Despite this, it seems not to have become popular amongst the population in general until the Middle Ages or later, and only became a ‘national caricature’ in the 18th century. (Observer August 6, 2000).

There is also a (much parodied) song called The Roast Beef of Old England.

Well this is just a stub as they call it in Wikipedia. Maybe I should expand it since it is so short!
